Politician Deaths During COVID Pandemic

The Long COVID Foundation curated a list of active (or very recently active) judges, politicians, and the like located in the United States who have passed away from any cause between 2020 into November of 2024. The total on the list is 466, 261 with a known cause (excluding those that died via accidents, murder, and suicide).

COVID and Cancer killed these politicians at a much higher rate than the general population. COVID 7.61% in general population compared to 23.02% of U.S. Politicians. Cancer 18.38% in the general population (2020-2023 average) and 43.55% in U.S. Politicians during the COVID Pandemic.

The politician cohort passed from Pancreatic Cancer 24.62% of the time when Cancer was involved in their death. That is more than 3 times the average, 8%, of the general population (2024). More analysis below.
